I started taking dance when I was 3 years old. I was actually in Missy’s first ballet class. I took tumbling and dance all throughout high school, and I took a few dance classes when I was in college at the University of Northern Iowa. I graduated from UNI with an Elementary and Early Childhood Education Degrees. I am currently a Special Education Teacher in the Behavior Disorders classroom at Stewart Elementary.
I currently live in Washington with my husband, Chuck, and three daughters, Brielle (Ellie), Alyvia, and Ivy. Ellie and Ivy each take several dance classes and enjoy going to dance competitions. My middle daughter, Alyvia took dance when she was younger, but decided to take up basketball and softball. Ellie and Alyvia also run cross country and track, so I guess you can say that I am a pretty well rounded mom. When I am not teaching at school, teaching tumbling, or not at my girls’ events, I enjoy spending time with my family, spending time outdoors, attempting to garden and work on my yard, and reading.
This is my 11th year of teaching tumbling at Stairway to the Stars. I have really enjoyed getting to see my tumblers improve each year, and seeing how excited they are when they finally can do a tumbling trick on their own after they have worked hard on that trick. I also really enjoy getting to know all of the families of the dancers and tumblers.
